Webinar Recap: Preventing Default Evictions in Dallas County

Each year, thousands of families in Dallas County face the threat of eviction. Nearly 40 percent never appear in court, which leads to default evictions that uproot families and disrupt children’s lives.

Groundwork Outreach, the Child Poverty Action Lab (CPAL), and the Dallas Eviction Advocacy Center (DEAC) partnered to change that through a pilot canvassing campaign that brought legal information and housing resources directly to residents. The project combined data insights with community outreach to help more tenants understand their rights and remain housed.

Watch the full recording to hear what the data revealed, how residents shaped the findings, and what this work means for default eviction prevention and housing stability across North Texas.
