Groundwork Outreach to Connect More Seniors With Free, Essential Services
FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
Community Connections for Older Adults Campaign Expanded to Reach Residents in Pleasant Grove
Phase Two Will Build on Early Success to Connect More Seniors With Free, Essential Services
Dallas, TX — Groundwork Outreach announced the launch of Phase Two of the Community Connections for Older Adults campaign, expanding targeted outreach efforts to Pleasant Grove ZIP code 75217 to connect residents age 60 and older with critical, no-cost services that support healthy aging and stability.
Building on the success of Phase One, the second phase of the campaign will run throughout February and March 2026 and will focus on enrolling older adults in essential services provided by The Senior Source and the Visiting Nurse Association of Texas (VNA). Phase One of the Community Connections for Older Adults campaign reached more than 2,500 residents in the Singing Hills neighborhood and surrounding areas within ZIP codes 75232 and 75241.
Available services include food pantry access, SNAP enrollment, Meals on Wheels, hospice and palliative care, free flu shots, last will and testament workshops and additional health and wellness support. All outreach is conducted in English and Spanish by trained Groundwork staff, many of whom live in the Pleasant Grove community.
“For many seniors in southeast Dallas, access, not eligibility, is the biggest challenge,” said Jaime Resendez, City of Dallas Council member for District 5. “This campaign is vital because it connects older adults to critical resources that support independence, health and quality of life within their own community.”
“The results in Singing Hills confirmed that direct, neighborhood-based outreach creates measurable impact,” said Marie Appel, founder and CEO of Groundwork Outreach. “We connected more than 160 seniors to 483 services, an average of 3 services per person. That level of enrollment demonstrates that when barriers to access are removed, existing public and nonprofit investments can fully reach the seniors they are designed to serve. We are excited to replicate that meaningful impact in Pleasant Grove.”
During Phase Two, Groundwork Outreach canvassers will engage residents door to door, providing information, answering questions and assisting them with enrolling in services. The campaign is designed not only to increase enrollment but also to gather real-time insights to help partner organizations better tailor service delivery to community needs.
The Community Connections for Older Adults campaign is a collaborative effort among Groundwork Outreach, The Senior Source and VNA. It is jointly funded by Communities Foundation of Texas, The Dallas Foundation and Lyda Hill Philanthropies. All services provided through the campaign are free to eligible residents.
Older adults age 60 and over, as well as caregivers supporting an older adult in Pleasant Grove, are encouraged to participate and learn more about available resources during the outreach period by completing the interest form below.
